Back in the Saddle
June 11, 2012
It's been a while since I've written . We've just had a wedding on the farm over the Memorial Day weekend. Our daughter Amy married Zach Lancaster under the shade of the walnut grove. The far pasture was the setting for the whole event...from ceremony to reception. It was a warm sunny May day. Perfect weather! The following weekend found us hosting the Illinois Montadale sheep breeders for a family style picnic. We visited with many friends during another lovely afternoon.
Now the rain can come and give our gardens & fields a much needed drink! I don't like the idea of watering the gardens too much when we use a well for our water source.
Agility class tonight with Willow. Hope we are clicking. River's last organized agility class is tomorrow night. We have come so far with him..but much farther to go! Joe helped put up the agility equipment yesterday. We have waited until all the farm events have passed to get it out of the barn.
The late lambs aren't looking to great. The heat isn't helpful to their growth. Hope the ewes will be bred earlier this year! My Southdown lamb-Charm- looked great when she was born on April(Friday the 13th), but she's in her "uglies" right now!
